Women’s Empowered Nonprofits: Celebrating the Power of Women on International Women's Day

International Women's Month is a time to celebrate, elevate, and empower women.  At Keela, we believe that supporting women is essential to creating a more just and equitable world. International Women's Month is a time to celebrate the achievements of women around the world (including women’s empowered nonprofits), to reflect on the progress that has been made toward gender equality, and to advocate for the work that needs to be done to create a truly equitable space for women.

What is International Women’s Day and Why Do We Celebrate It?

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day of celebration that takes place annually on March 8th. The day is dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and advocating for gender equality.

IWD provides an opportunity to acknowledge the progress that has been made towards gender equality and to raise awareness about the ongoing struggles women continue to face. The day is celebrated in countries around the world with a variety of events, including rallies, marches, and conferences.

International Women’s Month poses the perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible women’s empowered nonprofits, female-focused charities, and all nonprofit organizations that help women. This month (and every month), we want to celebrate organizations creating economic opportunities for women and girls, nonprofit organizations that support women, and women in nonprofits doing critical work to promote gender equality.
